Social Impact through Fair Trade
We currently have projects in Uttar Pradesh, India that is Fairtrade registered. Fair Trade is an alternative approach to traditional trade and is based on producer-consumer partnerships. When farmers sell on fair trade terms, they get better deals and improved trading conditions. This gives you the opportunity to improve your life and plan your future. Fair Trade offers consumers around the world an effective way to reduce poverty through their everyday purchases.
When a product bears the FAIRTRADE mark, it means that manufacturers and traders have complied with Fairtrade standards. The Fairtrade standards are designed to address power imbalances in trading relationships, volatile markets and common trade injustices. To achieve its objectives, Fairtrade requires:
๐ฟ The standards of practice Fairtrade must follow to ensure that farmers and workers are treated fairly as acceptable working conditions.
๐ฟ Fairtrade Minimum Price (determined by Fairtrade standards and pricing units) to ensure producers can cover their average sustainable production costs. It acts as a safety net for farmers when world markets fall below sustainable levels.
Fairtrade Premium – Additional payment received by farmers for products sold on Fairtrade terms.
๐ฟ This is in addition to the organic premium we pay his 4,000 farmers. This money goes to a community fund for workers and farmers to improve social, economic and environmental conditions.
